Malayalee audiences will never forget the anti-hero, 'Sagar alias Jacky', Mohanlal played in 'Irupatham Noottandu'. Released nearly 15 years ago, it was one of the biggest hits in Mohanlal’s career.
Amal Neerad, the director of 'Big B', released last year with Mammootty in the lead, is planning to make a sequel to 'Irupatham Noottandu', it is heard. Mammootty, after the success of 'Big B', is rumoured to have given an open call-sheet to Amal for his new film. But the director seems to have opted for Mohanlal in his new venture. The film, scripted by S.N. Swami, will be a high voltage action thriller, based on 'Sagar alias Jacky'.
It was heard that Shaji Kailas also was interested in making a sequel to the same film with the title 'Ee Irupathi Onnam Noottandu'. But the project was dropped since his last venture with Mohanlal, 'Alibhai', bombed at the box office.
The sequel will be produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Ashirvad films.
