It was a special birthday for Malayalam superstar this year as he celebrated his 53rd birthday with his Tamil friends. The actor celebrated his birthday on the sets of forthcoming Tamil film Jilla starring Illayathalapathy Vijay.
The Jilla team had some plans for Mohanlal as they threw him a surprise party. In fact, the actor was not keen to leave the sets, since he was busy shooting for the film whole day. "He was with us on location shooting for the film. Since we are halfway through the first schedule, he didn't want to leave the sets. However, we threw a surprise party for him to welcome his birthday," the film's director Nesan told IANS.
The team made Mohanlal cut the cake. Lal plays Vijay's mentor in the film, which is currently being shot in Chalakudy, Kerala. Veteran actress Poornima Bhagyaraj, who is making a comeback almost after two decades, is paired opposite Mohanlal in the film.
