In the land where plagurized storylines, lush colorful cinematography, repeated and rerepeated musical soundtrack and elaborate, exotic dance sequences dominate the silver screen to rake in huge cash at the boxoffice and satisfy one billion mass for the craving for so called "cheep" entertainment. COMPANY stands out as the "KOHINOOR" diamond embedded into Queen mother's crown. It is there for everyone to see in all its glory over and over again. COMPANY is the latest offering from India's most visionary and imaginative film maker Ram Gopal Varma. In his previous offering SATYA, Varma literally opened the bylanes of Byculla in the slum dwelling cosmopolitan Bombay for the world to visualize and analyze. This instantly made SATYA a cinematic gem. In COMPANY, Varma deliberately departs away from Bombay underworld to give you a macrovision of the organized crime. And how even one "irreconsilble difference" can trigger a chain reaction that can spread like a wild fire through dry forest sparing no one. In comparison, COMPANY is even superior motion picture than SATYA. Screen play is so tightly written and so well executed by director Varma that if it wasn't for the intermission I would have p***ed in my pants. There are tons of camera angles which are deliberately used to bring you in the middle of the preceedings which I think were brilliant. soundtrack is very aggressive to highten the situation but is very controlled. I think all in all Editing department steels the show by narrowest margin. Editing is extremely crisp and probably the best edited motion picture ever in the Indian or probably Asian cinematic history. All in all, COMPANY is an outstanding motion picture for the ages to come. It has raised the bar that much for years to come and for Motion pictures to follow. It will definitely become a standard against which other great motion pictures will be measured. It has certainly made Ram Gopal Varma, the greatest contemporary film maker working in Asia Today. Welcome Mr. Varma in the league of Satyajit Ray, Akira Kurusawa, Fransis Ford Coppala, Martin Scorsese, Oliver Stone and Shyam Benegal.
